The Story

January 5, 2015

I was having a drink with a friend tonight, and what started as light chatting slowly progressed into deep and meaningful conversation about the areas we’ve each been struggling with in our lives. We were sharing our goals for the coming year and started reflecting on how much more we would have liked to accomplish in the last. I was reminded of something one of my favorite and most inspirational women, Whitney English, once posted on her Instagram account which said “The Struggle is part of The Story.” As women, it’s like we are hardwired to play the comparison game. We set these impossible standards for ourselves and anything less is seen as personal failure. As I was driving home, I started to think of how often I see this with my brides.
