I am so thrilled to share this elegant Art Deco inspired shoot today! Last spring I was looking over my timelines for the coming months and quickly realized that many of my couples were using Laura Ann Miller Photography. I knew it couldn’t be a coincidence, so I sent her a quick note asking to grab coffee that week. We instantly clicked and it was soon clear why so many couples had selected us both. I had been longing to coordinate a photo shoot, and Laura seemed like the perfect gal to team up with. We started brainstorming and before I knew it something beautiful was taking shape! I cannot say ‘thank you’ enough to our wonderful couple, Rachel & Ben. We knew from the beginning that we wanted to use a married couple instead of models, and these two were simply perfect. So many friends contributed wonderful details to pull the look together, and we could not have done it without each and every one of them!
The session is full of lavish vintage stylings, including an opulent candlelit head-table, the most amazing cake and champagne tower, a dazzling Rolls-Royce, and most importantly – a madly in love couple!
The bride, Rachel, wore the most ravishing period gown with just a hint of sparkle, and her Gatsby inspired headpiece completely tied together her Deco look. Meanwhile, Ben was the epitome of a 1920’s classic groom in his sharp black tux and matching bow-tie.
For the head table, we wanted the perfect balance of sophisticated elegance and vintage Deco flare. The Conservatory provided the ideal posh backdrop for our grand head table amongst its luscious greenery. The stark black linens offset with stunning ivory florals and elegant gold China brought this table together perfectly. We chose to pair vintage gold candlestick holders with black tapers, giving an unexpected and unique twist. The gorgeous mint and gold cake and elaborate champagne tower topped off this completely extravagant affair.
We really wanted to capture Rachel and Ben’s infectious love during our session in the most natural way possible, which is why we chose to use both modern digital and authentic film photography. From a romantic stroll around The Conservatory garden to an intimate moment at the head table, these glamorous two go hand-in-hand. When our spectacular couple popped the bubbly in front of our classic Rolls-Royce get-away car we knew it was a smashing ending to a perfect day!
