I think you would have to be living under a rock to miss the “Love Your Spouse” challenges going around Facebook right now. And don’t get me wrong, I obviously love seeing the outpour of love and admiration from my friend list (especially past clients!). But it got me thinking…
I would say I spend a good amount of time each week on the relationships in my life. I call my mom everyday, write my friends when they have something to celebrate, and Spencer and I take turns planning weekly date-nights. However, when life gets busy the first thing to get passed down the priority list is the relationship I have with myself.
As a self-admitted people pleaser, this happens frequently. And since I’m the type of person who likes to have everything scheduled, I recently started planning specific self-love time into my schedule. For my life, Monday is my catchup day so it makes sense to fit it in there. I spend two hours in the morning working on the house and laundry before moving on to one thing off my refresh list.
My amazingly talented friend Kelly of Hello World Paper Co. designed me this adorable Refresh & Recharge notepad to drop my list onto, and I’m sharing it with you to use as well! Just click the image to download, and then go show us some love on Instagram in return (here and here!)
Here are my 5 ways to refresh and love on myself for August:
- Mani/Pedi (Target has a great selection of Essie polish colors!)
- Turn on my favorite jams playlist – JT “Love Never Felt So Good”
- Bake something tasty like cookies or cupcakes (no judgement if it’s from a mix!)
- Craft a Pinterest project for the house
- Lunch date with a friend
One of my favorite Carrie Bradshaw quotes is “The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you that you love, well, that’s just fabulous.” Ladies, today I challenge you to take a little time for yourself. Make your own refresh list and reference it often. It can turn around a difficult day and change the way you feel about yourself.
